River Carpsucker

Description

The River Carpsucker is a well-known bottom feeder. They eat and filter nutrients from silt and detritus, making them a suction or filter feeder. In the spring, they migrate upstream as the water temperatures rises, and move back downstream after spawning.

They have been known to travel distances of up to 6.2mi (10km). They are more abundant in areas with calm water and moderate temperatures.
