Flamenco is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain. It is believed that the flamenco genre emerged at the end of the 18th century in cities and agrarian towns of Baja Andalucia. Flamenco shoes are not just defined by function but also by form, comprising of a sturdy wooden heel, nails on the bottom of the toe and heel, steel shank, steel toe, and hand-stitched sole.
