Huldra are secretive forest creatures, known to tempt and trap those that journey too far into their domain. Huldra are known to possess an inhuman beauty, often extending that monstrous quality to characteristics such as cloven feet or a cow’s tail. Huldra are almost exclusively female, with male Huldra being known as Huldrekall and only having their base habitat in common with their female counterparts. Huldra are said to be kind to charcoal burners, watching their charcoal kilns while they rested. Knowing that she would wake them if there were any problems, they were able to sleep, and in exchange they left provisions for her in a special place
