The Sámi people are indigenous to northern Norway, as well as to Sweden, Finland and the far north of Russia. Over half of Norwegian Sámi live in the very north, and many live as far south as Trollsporet. There are three Sámi dialects in use in Norway, and the Sámi language is the official dialect of six places and one municipality in Norway. Since 1992, the Sámi have had their own national day; February 6.
