COTW The Angler Patch 1.8.1 is now out! Available on all platforms, it introduces improvements to online multiplayer parties, player-initiated competitions, and a new fishing hint system.
COTW the Angler Patch 1.8.1 Highlights
These are the highlights of Update 1.8.1 for COTW The Angler game.
Multiplayer Parties
The Developer Team has invested significant effort into enhancing the multiplayer party system, making it easier to fish with friends. Players can now form their own parties of up to six members at any time, even before entering a reserve, or join an existing party hosted by a friend.
Player-initiated Competitions
Create custom competitions and challenge your friends for some classic angling rivalry. Showcase your skills in head-to-head competitions with up to 11 other players on the same server in these disciplines:
- Biggest Catch: Catch the biggest (heaviest) fish.
- Heaviest Haul: Catch the most fish (by total weight).
- Fish Frenzy: Catch the most fish (by number).
To start a competition in COTW The Angler game navigate to the Competitions Tab and press ‘Create a Match’, then proceed to choose Event Format, Privacy, Duration and catching criteria for the competition with the Minimum Rank & Species options.
Once these options are confirmed, click ‘Create Match’ again to create the Match Competition & wait for other remote players to join. Once another player has entered the created competition, the host can start the competition.
Once the competition has begun, participating players will be notified on screen. Players can join competitions that have already begun.
New Fish Hinting System
Players who have been idle for more than five minutes without catching anything will now receive hints about the locations of nearby popular fish and their preferred bait. This feature can be toggled on or off at any time to match your play style.
