King Hugo I is considered the reason the Aguas Claras region is so profitable today, driving investment in infrastructure, most notably in the form of the Atajo del rey Hugo pathway, which allowed safe access to Aguas Claras. Hugo I is also responsible for the construction of a great number of Aguas Claras’ defenses and industry such as Castillo de la Vasta Vista and many of the dams.
