This is the Wiki page for the Freshwater Drum found in Golden Ridge Reserve.
Description
The Freshwater Drum is a fish regularly occurring in North and Central America.
Its scientific name comes from the Greek for ‘single back’, and the Latin for ‘grunting’. This name is derived from the grunting noise that mature males make. This noise comes from a special set of muscles within their body cavity that vibrate against their swim bladder. The purpose of the grunting is unknown, but as it is only present in mature males during the spawning season, it is assumed to have something to do with spawning.
The Freshwater Drum prefers clear water, but it is tolerant of turbid and murky water.
