Description

The Smallmouth Yellowfish is a species of ray-finned fish, which is an invasive species in rivers of the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

They are a hardy and adaptable species that are widespread across their natural distribution range. They have the ability to inhabit smaller streams due to their smaller size.

Smallmouth Yellowfish are opportunistic feeders, reaching a mass of around 20lb (9kg) and eating a variety of food types, ranging from plant material to aquatic insects, crabs, shrimps and small fish.
