Description

The Pumpkinseed, also referred to as the Pond Perch, is a small fish with a body shaped like a pumpkin seed.

The Pumpkinseed It is typically about 4in (10cm) in length, but can grow up to 11 in (28 cm). They typically weigh less than 1lb (450g). Pumpkinseeds are very similar to the larger Bluegill, and are often found in the same habitat.

Pumpkinseeds are carnivorous and feed on a variety of small prey, including insects, small molluscs and small crawfish, as well as cannibalizing smaller Pumpkinseeds.
