The American Black Bear (ABB) is a medium sized bear, although the smallest on the continent, native only to North America. The ABB is thought to be the most widespread bear, with a population estimated at twice that of all other bear species combined. The ABB can grow to be between 47-79 in (120-200 cm) in length and 90-551 lb (41-250 kg) in weight. The ABB is very physically strong, having been observed to flip rocks up to 3 times its own weight with a single front paw, as well as possessing surprising nimbleness.
